What we do with a sheet of gypsum
New builds, additions, basements and repairs. Every job is quoted by the square foot, hung to code and finished to the level you pick.
Drywall hanging
The core of every job. 1/2″ and 5/8″ boards, single or double layer, Type X, moisture-resistant and sound-dampening, on walls and ceilings.
Taping and finishing
Paper or mesh tape, three coats of compound, sanded and inspected under raking light. Level 3 to Level 5, plus textures and popcorn removal.
Insulation
Fiberglass or mineral wool batts in 16″ or 24″ widths, 3″ and 6″ class, or closed-cell spray foam.
Vapour barrier film
Polyethylene or smart membrane, taped at every seam and sealed at the plates so the wall stays airtight.
Painting
Primer and finish coats on walls, ceilings and trim, in the sheen that suits your finish level.
Repairs and patching
Doorknob holes, cracks, nail pops, water-damaged sections and old plaster transitions.
Which finish level do you need?

How a job runs
A typical room takes four to seven working days for drywall and finishing, because each coat of compound has to dry before the next one goes on.
Site visit and quote
We measure, check the framing, and send a written quote within 24 hours.
Insulation and film
Only if you need them. Batts, then a sealed vapour film over the framing.
Hang drywall
Boards are cut, screwed to the studs and staggered so seams never line up.
Tape and mud
Tape, then multiple coats of compound with drying time in between, sanded smooth.
Prime and paint
Optional. We inspect under a low light first, then prime and paint.

Questions we hear a lot
How accurate is the online estimate?
It uses typical Canadian rates by province, your room size, board type and finish level. Most jobs land within the range shown. Odd layouts, damage behind the wall or hard access can move it, which is why we confirm on site before you commit.
Do I need a permit?
Hanging, finishing and repairs usually don’t need one. New walls, fire-rated assemblies and full basement finishing often do, and rules differ by municipality. We’ll tell you what applies when we visit.
Can you work through a Canadian winter?
Yes, as long as the space is heated. Joint compound needs roughly 10°C or warmer while it dries, so we ask for the heat to be on for the whole job, including overnight.
My ceiling has a popcorn texture. Is it safe to scrape?
Not until it’s tested. Popcorn ceilings applied before about 1990 can contain asbestos. We ask for a lab test first and won’t disturb an untested ceiling. If it’s clear, we scrape and skim it smooth.
How long will my home be a construction site?
A typical room takes four to seven working days. Hanging is quick; the wait is drying time between coats. Dust containment keeps the mess to one area.
Do you do insulation, vapour film and paint too?
Yes, as optional extras. Our main work starts once your framing, insulation and vapour film are in. If they aren’t, add them in the price builder and each one is calculated separately.
Do you work in condos?
Yes. We can supply a certificate of insurance, book the elevator and follow your building’s quiet hours.

When you send us a project through this site, we collect your name, phone number, email, postal code and the details you type about the job. If you attach photos or videos, we collect those too.
Why we collect it
Only to prepare your quote and contact you about it, by whichever method you choose (phone, text or email).
Who sees it
Dudkin Drywall Division. We don't sell or share your information with third parties, and we don't use it for marketing you haven't agreed to.
How long we keep it
For as long as needed to quote and complete your project, and afterwards only as long as normal business and tax records require.
Your rights
